Medical Receptionist: The reception desk and telephone reception is the face of the practice. As the first point of contact for patients and medical facilities calling our office, the appropriate candidate must demonstrate courtesy, punctuality, professionalism and a positive attitude while speaking with patients.
Description of Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Checking patients in and out, verifying insurance, collecting copays and payments on balance, scheduling follow up visits and outgoing referrals, assuring patients complete the correct forms upon arrival.
2. Answering incoming and making outgoing calls: scheduling and confirming appointments, taking clear and accurate messages regarding medical advice or prescription refills and properly routing to appropriate clinical staff members using Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
3. Indexing incoming faxes and documents from other sources to the proper patient chart and routing to the appropriate provider using the EMR. Scanning documents to patients charts.
4. Mailing various patient letters, disability forms, and prescriptions, requesting records from other medical facilities, processing approved requests to release medical records and insurance chart reviews and performing tasks as requested via Front Staff Triage and To-Do in EMR.
5. Referral Tracking- to assure that patients who were referred to a specialist have followed through, and that the consultation from the specialist has been received, reviewed and the referral closed.
Skills:
Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures preferred. Requires the ability to handle variations in workload, due to the volume of calls and patient appointments. Must have demonstrated ability to deal professionally and courteously with patients, physicians, and colleagues.
Accountability:
Experience: Experience working with the public, in a heavy customer contact area. A minimum of one year experience in the medical office or hospital setting is preferred.
Education: High school diploma. This is a professional, friendly office that values Patient Centered Care.
Schedule: Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday; Tuesday-Saturday schedule possible. 830a-5p
