Our progressive small animal general practice in downtown Longmont is looking for a veterinary nurse to add to the team. We are looking for a motivated team player who is flexible, hard working and compassionate, with a willingness to learn new things as well help their own teammates grow. The ability to communicate well with with both clients and colleagues is a must! We are equipped with digital xray, in-house lab equipment, point of care ultrasound, and high quality dental equipment including digital dental xray. In addition to dentistry, we have the ability to perform simple as well as complicated surgical procedures (soft tissue and orthopedic). We are highly committed to keeping our clinic as stress free as possible and have multiple staff members who have received Fear Free Certification. We also take pride in making pain management one of our top priorities. We offer acupuncture and laser treatment and have a certified rehabilitation specialist on staff.

Veterinary Nurse Responsibilities
Greet clients and weigh patients
Get TPR and history of patient
Assist doctor in exam room
Perform blood draws, cystocentesis, IV catheter placement
Set up, run, and in some cases analyze in-house labwork (blood, urine, fecal, and cytology samples)
Help restrain animals for radiographs and ultrasound
Prepare surgical suite for surgery
Prepare patient for surgery: assist with pre-anesthetic exam, help calculate and administer pre-medication, place IVC, induce patient under supervision of veterinarian, clip and aseptically prep patient
Monitor anesthesia peri-operatively
Setting up, running, and analysis of in-house bloodwork, urine, fecal, and cytology samples
Monitor patients post op
Monitor hospitalized patients (regular TPR, assess status, walk and provide food and water as needed)
Fills medications for patients under guidance of veterinarian
Maintain supplies and equipment
Help with cleaning and wrapping packs
Assist doctors with client communication (callbacks, setting up rechecks, going over estimates)
Answer phones, check voicemails, and schedule appointments to assist receptionist as needed
Various duties as they arise

Certification is a plus but not required. Compensation is commensurate on experience and certification level.
