Our retail shop sells new and used bikes, parts and accessories and provides service to support our mission and programs.

The Inventory Coordinator at Old Spokes Home is a multifaceted role that is crucial to the success of the organization in various areas. Their primary role will be as the lead in receiving all new products and managing all inventory-related systems. A secondary role will be to serve customers as a Retail Associate. In this role they are expected to direct customers to bicycles, parts, and accessories that are suitable for their needs and applications. Retail Associates are Old Spokes Home’s key face-to-face representatives with our customer base, and are expected to communicate key information about our nonprofit programs and mission, events, and volunteer opportunities.

Job Responsibilities:

Receiving and Inventory Management (~20 hours/week)

  • All new parts arriving in the building should be priced with the exception of bulk service items.
  • Receive orders as they come in, making sure to maintain accurate purchase orders into Point-of-Sale system, capturing:
  • Category, price, cost, barcodes, vendor details, serial number, shipping cost, brand details, box quantities etc.
  • New Bikes should have Make, Model, size, and color in description of the item, also making sure the serial number is entered upon being received.
  • Work with all staff to ensure consistent practices within the Point-of-Sale system to accurately track inventory.
  • Perform inventory corrections as needed.
  • Lead annual and quarterly inventory counts in partnership with the Shop Manager
  • Any large relocation of inventory or backstock should be carried out in consultation with the Shop Manager

Day-to-Day operations of the retail shop (~20 hours/week)

  • Welcome customers in a timely manner and provide customer service
  • Sell new/used bikes and accessories
  • Direct customers seeking repair to service
  • Perform general shop upkeep/cleaning
  • Perform minor repairs when necessary, such as flat-tire repairs, cable-tension adjustments, and bolt checks. (Experience preferred, but we will teach the right candidate.)
  • Support the day-to-day of our community programs & overall social mission

Qualifications:

  • Attention to detail with a good mind for systems and data tracking
  • Friendly, personable demeanor and strong communication skills with a variety of customers (Customer service experience preferred but not required for the right candidate)
  • Ability to multitask and juggle multiple customers simultaneously during busy periods
  • Passion for bicycles and the opportunities they provide
  • Some knowledge of bicycles, their differences in design and application, accessories and their uses, and basic knowledge of bicycle care and maintenance
  • Ability to lift objects over 40 pounds and navigate tight spaces
  • Commitment to making the cycling industry an inclusive space as outlined by the Cycling Industry Pledge, which OSH signed onto in 2020

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
