About the Role: 

The Senior Technical Accountant will report to the Manager, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting and will be responsible for assisting in all areas related to financial reporting, technical accounting, and intercompany accounting. This individual will interface extensively with the controllership team, as well as the tax and legal departments and both the internal and external auditors. 

This position will directly own monthly entries for stock-based compensation, inter-company accounting and assist in researching and resolving complex accounting issues as they arise. 

Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities: 

  • Prepare interim and annual SEC reporting (10-Qs/10-K) in accordance with US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations in a SOX environment
  • Prepare various other SEC reports such as 8-K, DEF 14A, S-1, S-3
  • Prepare all accounting calculations and journal entries for stock-based compensation
  • Prepare quarterly hedge accounting entries and reconciliations
  • Preparation of quarterly and annual parent company financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
  • Review monthly subsidiary activity prior to consolidation for financial reporting
  • Drive inter company reconciliation process within consolidation tool, and partnering with relevant business units related to unreconciled events for a timely consolidation and monthly close
  • Prepare interim and annual disclosure checklists and supplemental schedules to ensure compliance with requirements (GAAP and SEC Checklist)
  • Assist with tie-outs of earnings release, earnings script and investor presentations
  • Assist with the preparation of Board and executive management financial reporting presentations
  • Provide support for internal and external audits related to specific areas of responsibility
  • Maintain up-to-date process documentation and procedures as assigned
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies and procedures related to month-end close and assist in the design and implementation of new controls and processes
  • Participates in the preparation of SOX documentation and audit schedules for both internal and external audits

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with active CPA license
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience within public accounting or a consumer industry is preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of US GAAP, experience with stock based compensation accounting and experience with SOX
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, is required
  • Experience with Workiva and Netsuite ERP is a plus
  • Ability to self-manage is critical due to OLAPLEX's remote work environment
  • Must be very organized, detail oriented and able to work under tight timelines
  • Ability to work extended schedules around key reporting deadlines: monthly, quarterly, year-end and bi-annual board meetings
  • Ability to multitask and work with tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and team when appropriate
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and communicate conflicts to affected parties
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Our Total Rewards: 

The annual base pay for this position is $75,225 - $101,775 with eligibility for an annual bonus. The actual base pay will vary based on factors such as qualifications, years of relevant experience, skill level, functional expertise, certificates or other professional licenses held and geographic location.
