Job Summary:

Responsible for filling medication orders for inpatients, outpatients, and refill requests accurately, following all applicable laws and regulations. Monitor and maintain an active inventory of medications and supplies within VTH hospital pharmacy including disposal and replacement of outdated products. Provide high quality customer service and assistance to students, faculty, staff and clients, providing medications and supplies as prescribed by our hospital veterinarians. Assist in maintaining accurate records of the hospital pharmacy controlled drug inventory. Responsible for general housekeeping of hospital pharmacy area.

Education & Experience

Position Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

High school/GED and two years of related experience working as a pharmacy technician or as a veterinary technician/assistant.

Must have exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to perform basic drug calculations. Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, with excellent communication skills. Must have the ability to work effectively with computers and electronics. Must have knowledge of spelling and the meaning of commonly used veterinary and medical terminology to accurately enter specific information into patient records.

Experience with veterinary and/or human pharmaceuticals is essential. Must have knowledge of equipment used within VTH including, but not limited to: personal computer, telephone, copy machine, etc. Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills in order to interact with faculty, staff and students on a daily basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate's degree in veterinary technology or pharmacy Technician.

Previous experience working in a busy pharmacy, preferably five years experience working in a veterinary hospital or human pharmacy setting. Familiarity with legal guidelines and safety regulations in pharmacy practices and controlled substances. Previous experience with a hospital inventory management system such as CubeX.
