Oklahoma Human Services is Hiring a Child welfare specialist Near Grapevine, TX

This position is located statewide in Oklahoma

Child Welfare Specialist IV - H23D

Annual Salary : $52,.89

Travel is EXTENSIVE. Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain required car insurance.

Hours worked may include extended hours and / or weekends.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree plus one year of experience in professional social work in child welfare programs.
  • OR a Bachelors Degree plus two years experience as a Child Welfare Specialist

Job Responsibilities

This is the specialist level where employees are designated as lead workers or backup supervisors to Level I, II, III Child Welfare Specialists, carry complex and difficult caseloads, or are assigned responsibilities involving case consultation.

  • Serves as a Safety Liaison for the Safety Unit within Specialized Placements and Partnerships in Child Welfare to ensure the safety and quality of care for custody children placed in contracted residential facilities.
  • Initiates and completes the referral safety planning and assessment processes, including following up on safety plans developed by Office of Client Advocacy.

Writes and follows up on Corrective Action Plans and Facility Action Steps.

  • Provides community-based alternative placements for children who require out-of-home care along with therapy and specialized services - including those children who are emotionally and behaviorally disturbed, developmentally disabled, and medically disabled.
  • Lead worker and mentor to a unit of lower-level Child Welfare Specialists and may also serve as a backup supervisor. Serves as team leader in staff meetings, provide on-going case consultation and advise and train lower-level Child Welfare Specialists in interpretation of policies and procedures.
  • Carry complex and difficult caseloads, and / or are assigned responsibilities involving case consultation.
  • Conducts on-site visits to the facilities, maintains contact with administration, along with members of the Office of Client Advocacy & Oklahoma Child Care Licensing.
