Description
Responsible for coordinating, implementing, and promoting county-wide safety training programs, and inspections by performing the following duties and responsibilities. Ensures that all work performed at Oklahoma County and in its name is done in a safe manner. ** PLEASE INCLUDE UPDATED RESUME WITH APPLICATION**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include, but are not limited to the following:• Maintains regular attendance at work and is consistently on time. Requires a minimum 40 hours per week and available to be on-call (nights and weekends) with a rotating schedule to cover the injury line.• Provides exceptional customer service to all customers, both external and internal. Works to resolve all customer services issues in an expedient manner. Fosters an atmosphere of team and teamwork in the department and the BOCC.• At times, may work at other county facilities or off-site locations as the need arises to do training, inspections, investigations, job site supervision and other work assignments.• Interprets, enforces, and ensures compliance with applicable Federal and State rules and regulations concerning occupational safety, fire safety, and code compliance.• Conducts periodic safety walk-through inspections of assigned workplace facilities.• Ensure periodic inspections of all motorized vehicles.• Participates as a member of the Oklahoma County Safety Committee.• Advises assigned departments to protect employees against harm and maintain safe work conditions.• Formulates and suggests work safety standards and enforces procedures.• Develops implements and maintains written safety and health programs and plans.• Establishes and monitors the program for reporting and investigating “near-miss” situations.• Conducts investigations into employee inquiries, suggestions, and complaints, as needed.• Maintains detailed reports and related records, files, and documents related to investigations. • Assists in the developing policies and procedures.• Advises management on problem corrections.• Develops and conducts New Hire safety orientation.• Develops and conducts quarterly safety training and periodic training as required.• Maintains safety training files and records.• Compiles data and composes reports related to safety performance.• Conducts environmental audits of facilities, maintains respective records, and generates reports based on results.• Investigates industrial accidents, injuries, and occupational diseases to determine causes and preventative measures.• Investigates incidents involving motor vehicles and incidents involving mobile equipment.• Maintains safety incentive programs and tracks performance.• Conducts periodic CPR/First Aid training.• Other tasks and assignments as needed.
Experience
• Provides exceptional customer service to external and internal customers.• Skill and Knowledge in Microsoft Office applications. • Skill in conveying information both verbally and in writing.• Skill in communicating with tact and diplomacy• Knowledge of governmental statutes on local and state level.• Skill in evaluating projects for compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines.• Skill in coordinating project research and design activities.• Skill in working project through to completion and within specified time period.• Ability and willingness to work independently and as a team player.
Education Required
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university in the areas of safety, occupational health or related area; or equivalent combination of education and training. Professional safety certifications such as CIH, CHST, OHST, ASP, CSP a plus.Openings: 1
