Description
PLEASE NOTE: “This position is temporary, part -time, and non-exempt. It is funded through a grant and is dependent upon availability of funds and expected to last for approximately 30 months.”The Homeless Services Specialist / Housing Navigator, under general direction, will be responsible for understanding the local systemic issues related to homelessness, recognizing service gaps and areas of unmet needs, working collaboratively to make practical impact on the state of homelessness in Oklahoma County. The person in this position will need to be flexible and accepting of having different duties on different days, potentially at different times, as needed and directed.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include, but are not limited to the following:• Maintains regular attendance at work and is consistently on-time.• Maintains productive relationships and participates effectively as a team member of the Oklahoma County Social Services Department.• Interacts with the homeless population and the public on a daily basis• Present for work hours of 24 hours per week, specific schedule to be determined but will be within the time frame of Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; could potentially vary as needs of business varies• Assist clients in gathering eligibility documentation, including identification, homeless verification, proof of disability, and other needed documents.• Works collaboratively with other agencies.• Utilizes knowledge and resources to connect homeless clients to resources by coordinating and monitoring the progress of the clients.• Conduct Coordinated Entry Intakes, including administering the assessment to each person who is determined to be literally homeless.• Connect participants to mainstream benefits and assist them in applying when applicable.• Attend various meetings, which may include but not be limited to case management meetings such as CCMSA, CCM Families, and YCCM, as scheduled. • Assist in the coordination of housing referrals to assure clients are being matched with appropriate referrals.• Assist in ensuring that careful, accurate, and timely documentation is completed regarding clients being entered and exited from Coordinated Entry, and that all referrals provided are documented in HMIS.• Participate in and assist with various activities relating to homeless services, working in partnership with other agencies.• Develops, maintains, and follows organized procedures and maintains strict confidentiality of records. • Maintains files and electronic data in an organized manner. • Filing, typing correspondence and reports, making copies, and other general office functions in support of the homeless services.• Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Experience
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:• Able to promptly answer email, phone calls, in-person inquiries and any other electronic communications.• Great communication skills• Ability to work effectively with the homeless population• Ability to work effectively and coordinate with other agencies and organizations• Ability to participate effectively in meetings• Basic computer skills• Able to handle stressful situations• Develop knowledge of Oklahoma County government processes and procedures
Education Required
High School Diploma or GED. No certifications or registrations are required for this position.
Salary: $ 18.00 /Hour (Part-Time)
Hours per Week: 24
Work Days: M-F
