Oklahoma City Community College is Hiring a BSC Lab Aide - Student Near Oklahoma, OK

The Biology Science Center (BSC) Lab Aide will perform routine tasks required for the ongoing operation of science labs and laboratory preparation areas including the greenhouse, with supervision. This includes checking labs and then re-stocking them with proper supplies like gloves or paper towels. Lab Aides will also check labs for maintenance requirements such as leaks. This position will mostly consist of cleaning and organizing. This may include washing lab dishes like beakers, test tubes and dissection trays, cleaning out sinks, cleaning models and microscopes, weeding of plants in the greenhouse , sweeping of floors, and tidying up of general areas.

Minimum Education/Experience
MUST be a current OCCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours in the fall or spring semesters or a minimum of 3 credit hours in the summer semester.
OR
Current OCCC student with a federal work study award.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Must demonstrate positive communication and human relations skills while performing work.
Must be able to adhere to policies, procedures and guidelines to assure personal safety, the safety of other personnel and safeguard laboratory equipment.
Must be able to perform duties without constant direct supervision.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Medium work: This position requires the person to occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force and frequently exert up to 20 pounds of force and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to students, faculty, staff, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
This position requires the person to frequently move about the Biology Lab to assist students and perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position.
This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists.
This position frequently requires the person to operate a computer and other office/lab equipment to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to use upper and lower body to exert force up to 50 pounds to push, pull, grasp, and/or lift materials or equipment.
This position requires the person to perceive attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
3. VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.
4. WORKING CONDITIONS
This position’s essential functions are performed in an indoor, office or lab setting.
This position requires the person to frequently be exposed to fumes, odors, dusts, mists, and gases.
