Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Psychology or a related field.
  • Current license, or license-eligible, with the state of Oklahoma, ie LPC, LMFT, LCSW 
Position: Under administrative direction and in collaboration with the University Counseling Services Director, the Staff Counselor plans and develops mental health care programming and services to OC students, staff and faculty. Staff Counselor interacts with other employees to achieve the goals of the Counseling Center. The Staff Counselor presents a personal demeanor and attitude that reflects the values of the OC Covenant (attached), and consistent with the Counseling Center mission to provide services that encourage and promote wellness, responsible Christian attitudes, behavior, and the development of each person’s God given potential.
Examples of Work Performed:
  • Follows policies, legal and ethical practices to protect the privacy of client health information (explained in the UCS Confidentiality Statement and HIPPA Notice).
  • Provides individual counseling services to OC students, faculty and staff related to areas such as personal issues, relationship issues, career exploration, and academic performance.
  • Develops psycho-educational programming and provides group counseling relevant to student needs.
  • Provides crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and provides as-needed services to students on caseload or when the Director of UCS is unavailable.
  • Provides consultation and support services to housing staff and other university employees who provide services to students.
  • Selects and administers mental health assessments that correspond with the counselor’s training, experience and ethical competency, including personality assessment, premarital assessment, and career assessment.
  • Provides premarital assessment and education to engaged couples and may participate in an annual engagement seminar.
  • Collaborates and consults frequently with other counseling center staff.
  • Accepts assignments and special projects with flexibility and willingness to participate in activities that promote improved spiritual and mental health.
