JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: COST ACCOUNTANT POSITION #: 6662
Department: ADMINISTRATION Reports to: CONTROLLER
Summary Description:
Develop and/or maintain standard costing systems. Responsible for financial control of inventories and for the preparation and analysis of cost reports and costing audits. Examine and review unusual cost records and ensure cost data is allocated correctly.
Essential Functions:
Develop and oversee cost control systems and maintain cost models.
Manage and interpret cost audits, prepare cost accounting reports for management and assist with sales price/profit analysis on active jobs.
Identify and examine costs inconsistent with projected values.
Prepare Journal entries for inventory use, allocations and work-in-process.
Advise staff on cost analysis and fiscal allocations.
Analyze costs in relation to previous periods to prepare comparative reports and trend analysis.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Working knowledge of integrated accounting software and Microsoft Office tools.
Must place and emphasis on accuracy and review of work performed.
Communicate in a courteous, professional manner with vendors and fellow employees.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
3 years of previous experience preferred.
