Import Compliance Manager
The purpose of this position is to manage the import and brokerage compliance activities to ensure adherence with all laws and regulations in the region. This individual is responsible for providing customs regulatory guidance and internal requirements, in an optimal and efficient manner, to the operational business. Individual will support day to day operational requirements while being a part of an environment that emphasizes regulatory compliance, continuous training, and process improvement.
The hiring rate for this position is $99,600.00 - $133,000.00 per year.
The actual pay may vary based on several factors, including professional experience, hiring location, skills, and competencies.
Job Responsibilities:
Develop, document, implement and maintain internal controls for Customs compliance.
- Manage and direct CFS activity in the branches
- Support audits/self-assessments and identify corrective actions based on results.
- Establishes and maintains constructive working relationships and keeps stakeholders informed of progress or status, addressing the underlying needs of the stakeholders.
- Provides advanced expertise and knowledge in complex area of specialization. Outlines specific objectives and processes that are focused on generating innovative solutions to business problems.
- Participates in functional and cross functional teams to meet objectives, improve processes, and improve stakeholder satisfaction.
- Communicate with CBP and other government agencies regarding queries and regulation requirements.
- May have oversight over projects and/or processes
- Serve as in-house expert and provides advanced expertise and knowledge in complex area of specialization to the branches.
- Manage POA's
- Stay current on new or changing regulations or initiatives, attend seminars to remain updated.
- Assist in developing/updating company policy and procedures in related areas.
- Identify, create, and provide training on Customs related topics
Perform other job-related duties as assigned by management - Assist in the research and interpretation of international trade regulations and CBP regulations
- Quarterly communication of Customs metrics to key stakeholders
Support and/or administer activities associated with applicable Customs programs:Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5 years of import and brokerage compliance
- US Licensed Customs Broker preferred
- 5 years of working Knowledge of CBP and related Government importing and Customs regulations.
- 5 years of experience in international supply chain environment
- 3 years of managerial experience
Required Skills and Abilities
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulation
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to coordinate internal and external resources to advance business objectives
- Experience with Microsoft platform applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project); and data analysis tools
- Project skills; including analytics, implementation strategies, metric measurement and continuous monitoring expectations and deliverables
