What You'll Contribute to OHM Advisors
A site civil design engineer plays a key role in assisting our clients with land development opportunities for both the public and private sector. This position is one where the growth opportunities are abundant in the field of civil engineering. A site civil engineer is valuable to the industry by representing a knowledge base in multiple specialties of civil engineering utilities, storm water management, water resources, pavements, traffic, earthwork/grading, construction, surveying, and more. Collaborate with Architects, Planners, Engineers and other experts across multiple disciplines to deliver integrated solutions. This position offers future advancement opportunities into roles such as Lead/Project Engineer, Project Manager, or Client Representative.
Your Responsibilities
  • Serve as the design engineer in preparing site-related engineering documents and consulting services for our clients.
  • Working with other engineers and project managers to deliver design projects on time and within budget.
  • Mentor and oversee entry-level engineers and interns as they assist on projects and develop their skills.
  • Understanding the project needs and goals to provide our clients with quality services and deliverables.
  • Ensuring that design documents meet local, state, federal and best practice standards.
  • Work with peers to ensure that quality assurance and quality controls are maintained prior to issuing documents externally.
  • Collaborate with planners and landscape architects on overall site concept.
  • Use Civil 3D to create construction plans and author documents through the design process.
  • Having a strong understanding of the design process and to be able to work in a team environment on completing projects.
  • Complete complex technical tasks and computations for projects.
  • Be a problem solver for the team and for our clients.
  • Keep abreast on the latest technology and trends in our industry. Advise senior leadership on opportunities to provide better quality services to our clients.
  • Utilize established procedures and processes to deliver projects; advise when procedures can improve.
  • Monitor the project through bidding and construction processes, advising and clarifying your design documents for inspectors and contractors.
What You'll Need to Succeed
  • We are looking for someone who has design experience and/or passion with regards to grading design, water mainline design, sanitary sewer design, site circulation, pedestrian accessibility and experience, green infrastructure, and storm water management.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is a must.
  • Proficiency in HydroCAD or other storm water modeling applications is preferred.
  • Self-directed and ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
  • A desire to grow and advance your career.
  • Team-oriented mindset and strong listening and collaboration skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Your Team
As a site design engineer, you will be responsible for working with project engineers and project managers to complete projects in a timely and quality-controlled manner. While your core team is other engineering professionals, you will also be working with a multidisciplinary team of Architects, Engineers, Planners, and Landscape Architects to successfully deliver projects to OHM's clients.
