We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Trucking / Shop Supervisor to oversee the daily trucking/shop operations at our Fort Myers asphalt plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating the transportation of materials to and from the plant, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining the highest safety and efficiency standards. The role demands strong leadership skills, an ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to upholding industry regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities

TRUCKBASE:

Operations Management: Oversee the day-to-day trucking operations, including the scheduling and dispatching of trucks to ensure efficient and timely delivery of asphalt and other materials.

Fleet Maintenance: Ensure all trucks and equipment are properly maintained, serviced, and meet all safety regulations. Schedule repairs and regular maintenance checks to minimize downtime.

Staff Supervision: Manage a team of drivers and support staff. This includes hiring, training, scheduling, and conducting performance evaluations.

Safety Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and procedures, including monitoring compliance with DOT regulations and company safety policies.

Logistics Coordination: Collaborate with production managers to align trucking schedules with production demands, optimizing workflow and resource utilization.

Cost Management: Monitor and manage transportation costs, including fuel consumption, maintenance expenses, and driver wages.

Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of deliveries, vehicle maintenance, and driver logs. Ensure compliance with all regulatory reporting requirements.

SHOP:

Maintenance and Repairs: Supervise and coordinate the maintenance, repair, and servicing of all plant equipment and vehicles, including loaders, trucks, mixers, conveyors, and other machinery. 

Safety Compliance: Ensure all workshop activities comply with safety regulations and company policies. Promote a culture of safety and conduct regular safety training and meetings.

Inventory Management: Oversee the inventory of spare parts and tools. Ensure the availability of essential items and manage suppliers and orders to maintain stock levels.

Quality Assurance: Implement and monitor quality control measures to ensure that all repairs and maintenance work meet industry standards and enhance equipment reliability.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a trucking or transportation supervisory role, preferably in an asphalt plant or related industry.
  • Proven experience as a Shop Supervisor or similar role, preferably in an asphalt plant or related industrial setting.
  • Extensive knowledge of heavy equipment and vehicle maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills for record keeping and reporting.
  • A valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) may be required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; further education or a degree in logistics or transportation management is a plus.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision at 20 inches or less, distance vision at 20 feet or more, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Move throughout a construction jobsite which includes minor obstacles including climbing ladders and inclines, operating heavy equipment, and lifting over 50 pounds. Heavy physical activity performing strenuous day activities of a primarily productive/technical nature. 

  • Must be physically fit to perform inspections and occasional manual labor tasks.
