Salary is based on years of experience and education. 2024-25 PositionRESPONSIBILITIES:Understand student learning and development and respect the diversity of the students they teach.Display knowledge of how students learn and of the developmental characteristics of age groups.Understand what students know and are able to do and use this knowledge to meet the needs of all students.Expect that all students will achieve their full potential.Model respect for students’ diverse cultures, language skills and experiences.Recognize characteristics of gifted students, students with disabilities and at-risk students in order to assist in appropriate identification, instruction and intervention.Know and understand the content area for which they have instructional responsibility.Know the content they teach and use their knowledge of content-specific concepts, assumptions and skills to plan instruction.Understand and use content-specific instructional strategies to effectively teach the central concepts and skills of the discipline.Understand school and district curriculum priorities and the Ohio academic content standards.Understand the relationship of knowledge within the discipline to other content areas.Connect content to relevant life experiences and career opportunities.Employ methods and materials that are most appropriate for preparing students for Kindergarten.Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the Early Learning and Development Standards. Understand and use varied assessments to inform instruction, evaluate and ensure student learning.Knowledgeable about assessment types, their purposes and the data they generate.Select, develop and use a variety of diagnostic, formative and summative assessments.Analyze data to monitor student progress and learning and to plan, differentiate and modify instruction.Collaborate and communicate student progress with students, parents and colleagues.Involve learners in self-assessment and goal setting to address gaps between performance and potential.Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the Early Learning Assessment through accurate and timely submission of assessment data. Plan and deliver effective instruction that advances the learning of each individual student.Align instructional goals and activities with school and district priorities and Ohio’s academic content standards. Make referral recommendations to the appropriate specialist (i.e. OT, PT, School Nurse, and SLP) as needed.Maintain close communication with the child’s parents and Early Childhood Intervention Specialist when applicable. Make provision for being available to students and parents for conferences outside the instructional day when requested to do so under reasonable terms.Keep records of child’s activities and progress, and meet with parents concerning progress at minimum of 2 times per year.Assume responsibility for professional growth, performance and involvement as an individual and as a member of a learning community.Understand, uphold and follow professional ethics, policies and legal codes of professional conduct.Take responsibility for engaging in continuous, purposeful professional development.Agent of change seeking opportunities to positively impact teaching quality, school improvements and student achievement.Complete required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.Complete tasks demonstrating compliance with Ohio Department of Education Preschool Licensing and Step Up To Quality. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing pre-school enrollment. Strive to maintain and improve professional competence by continuing educational professional development.Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Attend training sessions as determined by state or district policies and proceduresAttend professional development meetings and in-services as requiredAt the request of the supervisor, attend parent conferences, home visits, or team meetings with school staff,Reports suspected child abuse and/or neglect to authorities as required by law.Promotes a positive image of the OVESC and service-area school districts.
