Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is Hiring a Research Development Specialist Near Columbus, OH

Research Development Partnerships primarily supports the vision scientists along with the departmental research team in the early-stage identification, analysis, planning and development of strategic, multidisciplinary funding opportunities. Enables and enhances the competitiveness of research programs and proposals for external support through strategic, proactive and capacity-building activities. Activities may include funding opportunity identification, research team building and funding and federal agencies and outreach activities. This is strategic work that enables our researchers to build a more robust portfolio about their work to create a strategic advantage when they are applying for research grants.

Function:

  • Grant submission preparation: Supports research faculty by leading department level preparation of grant applications to ensure timely submission of proposals. Coordinates activities with sponsors, investigators, and other departmental staff as well as OSU entities (other departments, centers, etc.) in order to deliver complete application documents to OSU College of Medicine grants management and Office of Sponsored Programs . Writes select portions of research and program grant applications, maintaining boilerplate and other documents, compiling progress reports. (50%)
  • Works with investigators to identify opportunities for extramural funding support and understand requirements and specifications. (5%)
  • Ongoing collation of department metrics regarding overall research and program activities (publications, presentations, grant applications, funding, etc). (5%)
  • Attends departmental meetings; attends national professional and scientific conferences to continue professional development (5%)
  • Other activities to support the ongoing research development within the department as assigned. (35%)

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 2 years of relevant experience required. 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.
