Position Title: Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Position Summary:

As a Registered Nurse in our Progressive Care Unit (PCU), you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to patients with complex medical conditions. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans under the direction of the PCU Nurse Manager and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Your expertise in critical thinking, clinical judgment, and patient advocacy will be essential in providing safe and effective care to our diverse patient population.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform comprehensive nursing assessments of patients in the PCU, including physiological, psychological, and social dimensions.

Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient assessments and established protocols, ensuring continuity of care and adherence to evidence-based practices.

Monitor and evaluate patients' clinical status, vital signs, laboratory values, and response to treatments, intervening promptly to address any changes or complications.

Administer medications, IV therapy, and other prescribed treatments in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards of practice.

Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care, facilitate interdisciplinary rounds, and optimize patient outcomes.

Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment options, self-care techniques, and discharge instructions, promoting patient empowerment and compliance.

Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of nursing assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.

Adhere to infection control protocols, medication safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements to ensure a safe and healing environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications:

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the OH or any compact state license.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited nursing program (preferred).

Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting, with specific experience in progressive care or telemetry nursing.

Certification in Progressive Care Nursing (PCCN) or Telemetry Nursing (preferred).

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.

Excellent clinical assessment, critical thinking, and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems and other healthcare technology.
