Ohio Gratings Inc. is Hiring a Finisher I Near Canton, OH

SUMMARY: Responsible for performing in at least one area of the Finishing Department’s activities. These areas include wash, sandblast, metalizing, galvanization, dip tank, and powdercoat as detailed in the job traveler. This process will include working with several others as part of a team and will require the ability to coordinate, communicate, and work well with others. Work is reviewed by a supervisor to ensure quality and accuracy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Communicate effectively with and work well with others, including, but not limited to, during shift changes.

Follow all operating procedures, process instructions, and safety procedures.

Accurately complete necessary paperwork, including time cards, job travelers and material/bundle tags.

Keep personal and common work areas clean and organized.

Recognize and immediately report to supervision all quality issues.

Work from specifications, work sheets, dimensions, color codes, travelers, verbal and written instruction, or information to execute the needs of the finishing department.

Know how to properly prepare and/or clean items and surfaces that we process through the finishing department.

Perform other duties and cross train assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE AND PROFICIENCIES: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. The candidate must have the ability to safely operate gantry or overhead cranes, forklifts, and various hand and power tools. The candidate must also be able to read and understand standard and metric measures and be able to add and subtract two digit numbers and multiply and divide by 10s and 100s without the use of a calculator. Candidates with one or more years’ of prior coating experience with a steel or aluminum manufacturer are preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is encountered with repetitive movement tasks, which requires the employee to stand, walk, stoop, bend, reach, grasp, push and pull grating material of various size and weights for long periods of time. Must regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds, using proper lifting techniques, help from another employee or other available resources such as lifting or moving equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the essential duties of this job the employee is regularly working on the production floor. The work environment requires the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Exposure to noise, dust, heat and cold on a regular basis. Exposure to machine and tool hazards requiring care and attention to safety rules and standards.
