Ohio Gastroenterology Group, Inc. is Hiring a Medical Assistant Near Columbus, OH

Ohio Gastroenterology Group is the leading provider of general advanced GI procedures with several state-of-the-art facilities throughout Central Ohio. We employ a talented team of specialists who perform more GI procedures each year than any other practice in our area.
We currently have a full-time opening for a Medical Assistant.
Position summary:
Assists patients in a timely, courteous, and professional manner. Will provide accurate information, schedule appointments, and assist with APP (or physician) orders.
Essential key responsibilities:
  • Room and discharge office patients for physicians as necessary, including scheduling office visit, x-rays, lab test, hospital admission/transfers and procedures. Will also provide instructions for such appointments. Must pre-certify procedures, tests, and special pharmaceuticals as necessary.
  • Orders protocol for physicians.
  • Receive tasks for physicians.
  • Daily reviews and has working knowledge of physicians schedules.
  • Practice appropriate charting methods.
  • Travel between offices is required.
  • Assist Medical Secretaries, including reviewing/managing any mail/miscellaneous correspondence, patient charts, messages, scheduling by physician/APP, orders, and any other responsibilities that need attention.
  • Receptionist duties, as will back up receptionist when needed.
  • Assist with physician/APP recall appointments.
  • Attend all office meetings and in services as required.
  • Maintaining confidentially of patient, personal and financial information by utilizing HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
  • Any other tasks as requested by the physician, executive director, human resource manager, and/or the office supervisor.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to handle a multi-line phone system.
  • Ability to organize work material and/or charts to ensure accuracy of patient records.
  • Ability to relate to all levels of patients, staff members as well as external providers and/or agencies.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prefer 2 years’ experience working in a medical environment.
Work Hours:
7:30 am -4:00 pm Monday- Friday
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
