The Transportation Safety Manager will be responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of all company vehicles, equipment, and employees. This includes overseeing driver training, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and implementing safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including FMCSA and Department of Transportation (DOT).
· Maintain safety DQ files and records.
· Monitor all compliance items including physicals, licenses, random drug screens and annual reviews.
· Daily review of hours-of-service records confirming there are no violations.
· Monitor harsh events produced by JJ Keller ELD
· Produce weekly reports that includes information such as HOS violations, DVIRs, Speeding, etc.
· Handle accidents/incidents, insurance claims and audits.
· Identify trends, take steps to lower the number of preventable accidents, incidents, and injuries.
· Measuring Store & Haul metrics (CSA score, ISS, etc.)
· Participate in new driver orientation and on-boarding processes.
· Create safety training content and ensure completion on a quarterly basis through utilization of company learning management system.
· Work with management to constantly grow and evolve the safety department.
· Assist with recruiting by reviewing new hires background checks (Prescreen Plus & Safe Carrier)
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
· Minimum of 1 year experience in Transportation Safety
· Experience with ELD systems and on-board telematics
· Working knowledge of federal and state safety laws, particularly FMCSA, DOT & OSHA
· Proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Excellent planning and organizational skills
· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
· Preferred experience in DriverReach
