Cashier/Customer Service
We are a small family owned restaurant operating in Birmingham, AL. We are opening our new location in Fultondale, AL and are looking for cashiers in both locations.

Position Description

Fast food cashiers manage all monetary exchanges in the restaurant by taking orders and ringing up transactions, serve as a liaison between the customer, the managerial staff, and keeps the front area of the restaurant clean and well stocked.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Fast Food Cashier

• Greets all customers politely when they enter the restaurant.
• Records customer orders, both at the counter and at the drive-through (if applicable).
• Inputs the order into the register for the kitchen to ensure their preparation.
• Monitors orders and ensures their prompt delivery.
• Helps package food in boxes and bags.
• Listens to and resolves customer complaints, suggestions, and inquiries.
• Keeps the counter and dining area neat and clean.
• Sweeps and mops the floor regularly.
• Restocks napkins, straws, lids, and other supplies in the dining area.
• Tallies orders served and amount of cash received.
• Takes money from customers and provides correct change.
• Processes credit card and debit card transactions.
• Keeps track of a cash drawer and ensures it is balanced at the end of the shift.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Will be required to know basic math such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and division.
• Willingness to work and learn about our restaurant workflow.
• Can follow directions and achieve goals.
• Demonstrates strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Is able to communicate effectively to a variety of clientele.

Education and Experience

• A high school diploma or equivalent degree is often required. For students in High School a work permit is required.

• 1 year of experience is preferred. All employees will receive relevant training which will be provided on the job in order to learn employer-specific functions such as how to operate the register and to learn information about menu items.
• Sales experience is a plus. Customer service experience regarding greeting customers, answering potential inquiries about the menu, and handling complaints is required.

Work Environment
The restaurant serves a large volume of people over every shift. You will be standing for long periods of time while placing orders, receiving payment and giving the customer their food. Slip resistant shoes will be required.

Salary
The salary range is between $8.00 to $10.00 depending on experience.
