JOB SUMMARY
Installs, repairs, inspects, overhauls, troubleshoots, and performs maintenance to power plant equipment and systems at a Journey level.
Maintenance tasks include but are not limited to : pipefitting, welding, millwright and machining. Performs millwright or mechanical duties with pumps, electric motors, air compressors, valves, welding, fabrication, construction, pipe fittings, etc.
Will be required to work closely with ICE techs and plant operators on a daily basis.
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY
Complex responsibilities related to primary focus the Power Plant Mechanic Senior position, working towards qualification as Plant Mechanic Lead.
Uses best practices and in-depth business knowledge to solve complex problems and improve products or services. May adapt procedures, processes and techniques to meet the more complex requirements of position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Repairs, inspects and maintains combustion turbine / generator and steam turbine / generator auxiliaries, and Heat Recovery Steam Generator equipment and auxiliaries within a 2X1 GE 7FA and D-11 combined cycle plant as applicable.
- Performs equipment alignment.
- May perform necessary pipefitting and / or welding related maintenance, once qualified
- Operates various industrial equipment (i.e. forklift).
- Perform inspection, repairs and calibrations on various pressure and flow control valves.
- Performs general craft tasks and uses power and hand tools.
- Reads and interprets drawings and prints.
- Operates various machine shop equipment.
- Works with other craft and plant personnel as required.
- Complies with all safety and regulatory requirements, both internal and external.
- Utilizes SAP / PM system for equipment history and verification of work performed.
- Continually develops knowledge and understanding of plant principles and processes.
- Continually seeks process improvement to save cost and increase efficiency.
- Assists in member development.
- Flag for review and udpate bills of materials and task lists on an as needed basis.
Will work with external contractors in a plant contact role on various mechanical projects as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
- Associate's Degree in a mechanical discipline, And 5 years experience in a mechanical field; Or
- High School Diploma / GED And 7 years experience in a mechanical field; Or
- Prior military experience for at least one enlistment as documented on DD Form 214, And 6 years experience in a mechanical field.
- A certificate of completion from a vocational trade institution in a mechanical field is equivalent to 1 year of mechanical experience.
- Experience must include 3 years experience in a power plant or other process controlled environment including oil / gas / chemical refining and / or processing or manufacturing.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- May be required to work overtime and weekends and holidays.
- May be required to work non-standard work schedules to include on-call and call-outs.
- May require travel.
- May be required to work at heights up to and exceeding thirty (30) feet, underground and in confined spaces.
- May be exposed to extreme conditions and inclement weather.
- Required to work in a multi-craft crew including Mechanics and Instrument Controls and Electrical Technicians who work together to support operations of the plant.
- May be required to cross-train in various crafts and operation department at various times of the year.
Will be required to learn all plant systems and equipment to become proficient within the role.

- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and familiarity working with mechanical equipment (e.g. pumps, electric motors, air compressors, valves, welding, fabrication, construction, pipe fitting, etc.).
