Ogden Weber Technical College is Hiring a Grounds Maintenance Technician Near Ogden, UT

Join our team as a Grounds Maintenance Technician and become an essential part of our facilities team! We're looking for someone who takes pride in keeping our grounds looking their best year-round. Your role will involve maintaining, operating, and caring for all grounds equipment, irrigation systems, and landscaping features, including hardscapes, softscapes, and natural areas.

When winter arrives, you'll be our go-to person for snow and ice removal, ensuring safety and accessibility for everyone. As the seasons change, you'll shift your focus to irrigation and weed control, ensuring our outdoor spaces stay lush and vibrant. You will also lend a hand with event setups and furniture moving.   1. Performs and arranges scheduled preventative maintenance and repair of all ground’s equipment. To include, but not limited to: Mowers, edger’s, pruners, trimmers, sheers, weed eaters, snow blowers, tractors, motorized carts, aerators, spreaders, etc.
  2. Coordinates and assists with outside service and repair work. Hires vendors and service providers as assigned. Follows-up on work reviews and ensures that outside services are efficiently completed.
  3. Responsible for maintaining the sprinkling and irrigation systems, and related control systems.
  4. Coordinates sprinkler schedule and mowing schedule for turf care.
  5. Maintains the colleges fleet vehicles.
  6. Completes and assists in the maintenance, upkeep and beautification of college grounds and buildings.
  7. Operates all grounds and maintenance shop equipment.
  8. Coordinates and assists in all snow removal functions.
  9. Assists in emergency repairs.
  10. Completes assigned maintenance functions in accordance with established policies and procedures, ADA regulations, and OSHA regulations.
  11. Assists College personnel as needed.
  12. Keeps management informed of area activities, any significant problems or maintenance concerns.
  13. Attends and participates in meetings as required. Completes required records and reports.
  14. Performs miscellaneous and specially requested tasks such as assisting other personnel in event set ups and moving furniture, cleaning and storing equipment, and other duties as assigned.
  15. Completes assigned training and certifications.
  16. Responsible for the spraying of herbicides and pesticides.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  1. High school graduate or equivalent.
  2. Valid Utah Driver's License.
  3. Good mechanical and problem-solving abilities.
  4. Well organized and able to work well independently.
  5. Able to coordinate well with others in communication, planning, and coordinating.
  6. Attentive to detail.
  7. Able to operate welder, drills, saws, electrical tester, hand tools, snowplow, and salt/sand spreader truck and forklift and all ground maintenance equipment.
  8. Basic understanding of OSHA and ADA requirements.
  9. Two to five years of grounds and maintenance mechanical work preferred.
  10. Must communicate and work in harmony with co-workers, campus employees, and customers, in a pleasant, supportive manner.
  11. Must be able to work in all elements of weather.
 
Physical Requirements:
  1. Climbing: Includes ladders, scaffolding, ramps, poles, etc.
  2. Stooping: Bending downward and forward at the waist. Requires full use of lower extremities and back muscles.
  3. Kneeling: Resting on knee or knees.
  4. Crouching: Bending downward and forward at the leg and spine.
  5. Reaching: Extending hand (s) and arm (s) in any direction.
  6. Standing: For extended time periods.
  7. Walking: Especially for long distances.
  8. Pushing: Using upper body to press against something with steady force.
  9. Pulling: Using upper body to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects.
  10. Lifting: Occurs frequently and requires substantial use of upper body and back muscles.
  11. Finger Dexterity: Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or
  12. Pinching fingers together.
  13. Grasping: Using fingers and palm on an object.
  14. Talking: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  15. Average Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
  16. Repetitive Motions: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  17. Average Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products or operate machinery.
  18. Physical Strength: Medium Work; exerting up to 50 lbs. occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. constantly.

Working Hours: Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm
