Position SummaryReporting to Sr. VP and Head of Operations Industrial Spices, the Continuous Improvement Director will create, direct, plan, coordinate and execute continuous improvement initiatives that will drive improvements in all areas of the business with a focus on on-time delivery, quality, and production. The CI Director will ensure all departments have identified CI projects, manage and track to ensure projects are being completed on-time, within budget, facilitate projects, validate results, and coordinate audits to ensure sustainment of improvements. This role will plan productivity improvement, waste elimination and technology utilization. The Continuous Improvement Director will partner with the business to identify and implement new processes, methods, and procedures. The CI Director will provide feedback to leadership on projects with the greatest return on investment (ROI), maintain suggestions for improvement projects from production employees and will ensure Lean/Agile principles are followed.
The ideal candidate should be innovative in developing process improvement opportunities and solutions. They should have exceptional communication skills with all internal and external stakeholders. They should demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills to be successful in this role.
Position Responsibilities
  • Conduct and oversee internal audits. Ensure plant is following quality standards, Lean standards, and general organizational procedures.
  • Partner with Plant Managers, supervisors, and cross-functional partners to deliver operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) targets and cost performance for the plant.
  • Make recommendations on production tracking and quality control systems
  • Develop cost control standards, waste reduction, improve product quality capability to minimize defects, cost, and complaints to maximize manufacturing performance for the plant.
  • Identify and ensure all critical/relevant production and quality data is being captured in SAP or other systems.
  • Analyze and develop reports related to production and quality.
  • Ensure employees receive and attend production training on a timely basis and maintain employee training records.
  • Drive continuous improvement framework (visual controls, process standardization, standard work, Gemba walks, daily accountability, process checks and CI for all team members)
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in related subject required; Ten (10) years of manufacturing experience in food, pharmaceutical or chemical industry required.

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering or related field, plus Five (5) years of experience required.
  • Experience with setting up/administering practices and programs for Lean Manufacturing, Visual Management systems, and Agile methodology is highly preferred.
  • Advance analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Soft (MS) Word, Excel, and PowerPoint at a basic level; MS Outlook at an intermediate level.
  • Ability to develop productive and collaborative working relationships across departments is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
  • Previous experience in roles with cost-conscious focus, leading cost reductions projects is required.
  • Great communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical disciplines to Production personnel and executives, both internal and external is required.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to perform and comprehend verbal and written communication in English is required.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
The pay for this role in the state of CA ranges from $156,000 - $203,000 and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location. Actual pay within this range may be determined based on candidate’s experience, qualifications and/or other determining factors.
