OfficeForce is Hiring a Director of Accounting Near Gettysburg, PA
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Accounting to work with our client's leadership team and manage their Gettysburg office. The Director of Accounting will be responsible for managing accounting operations, with a focus on tax compliance and reporting. This role requires strong leadership abilities, extensive knowledge of tax regulations, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service to our member taxing authorities and the taxpaying public. The Director of Accounting will also be involved in preparing the organization for financial audits.
Responsibilities:
- Management of the Gettysburg office; reports to York office one per week
- Oversee tax compliance activities, including the preparation and filing of tax returns for individuals, businesses, and other entities.
- Represent YATB in criminal and civil proceedings filed before local district magistrates.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements.
- Provide guidance and support to taxpayers on tax-related matters.
- Review financial statements, reports, and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures specific to tax compliance.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax authorities during audits and examinations.
- Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Provide training and mentorship to audit staff on tax-related matters.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on tax compliance.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Access, and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Proficient in QuickBooks and accounting software.
- Thorough understanding of GASB standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience in a tax bureau, municipal or school finance, or public accounting firm is preferred.
- Must attain PA Act 32 Tax Officer Certification within 90 days of hire.
