Office of the Comptroller of the Currency is Hiring a Supervisory Attorney-Advisor (Director, Enforcement), NB-0905-VIII Near Washington, DC

As the Director for Enforcement, you will serve as the primary advisor to OCC management on significant banking, legal, and supervisory issues. Additionally, you will oversee and provide direction to Enforcement unit managers, staff attorneys and other professional and support employees.

Qualifications:

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement:

You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-VIIband level or GS-15 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience for this position include:

  • Experience providing strategic leadership and supervision to staff;
  • Experience applying enforcement-related law and remedies, conducting investigations and providing legal representation in administrative proceedings;
  • Experience in identifying, analyzing and evaluating, enforcement-related legal, legislative and regulatory issues to banking related cases; and
  • Experience leading administrative or court litigation and developing litigation or administrative adjudication strategies.

AND

Must be an active member of the bar of a State, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia.

The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or through volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

Responsibilities:

As a Supervisory Attorney-Advisor, you will:

  • Direct operations of the Enforcement unit, including the development of key communications to internal and external stakeholders subject to the direction of the Deputy Chief Counsel and Chief Counsel.
  • Interpret statues, regulations and judicial decisions pertaining to assigned areas and advise the Deputy Chief Counsel and Chief Counsel on highly complex and significant issues.
  • Represent the OCC with industry, and Congressional and executive branch committees within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Undertake special assignments for the Deputy Chief Counsel and Chief Counsel, including representing the OCC on enforcement committees; providing instruction at seminars and speaking at private banking conferences; and meeting with bankers, attorneys and the public in areas of assigned responsibility.
  • Supervise and manage professional staff of attorneys and support employees and coordinate and prioritize legal work with client offices.
  • Prepare authoritative legal opinions on highly complex policy matters dealing with enforcement matters, and other applicable statutes.
