Eligibility & Outreach Coordinator – 1-Year Contract Position

Victim Compensation & Assistance Division

The Attorney General’s Office is seeking a Contract Eligibility & Outreach Coordinator to review claims for eligibility, conduct statewide outreach and trainings, and provide advocacy, information, and assistance to crime victims and their families. This is a full-time, temporary position for one-year with benefits. Through the Victim Compensation & Assistance Division, the Attorney General’s Office is often able to provide financial assistance to eligible victims of violent crime. Experienced staff within the Division assist victims in understanding their rights as a crime victim, determining what expenses may be eligible for compensation, and assessing what other resources are available to assist them.

Primary Duties: The Contract Eligibility & Outreach Coordinator is responsible for the review and determination of eligibility of applications filed for Victim Compensation under M.G.L. c. 258C. This requires research and outreach to various law enforcement agencies and courts for information. In addition, the Contract Eligibility & Outreach Coordinator acts as the Division’s liaison to law enforcement agencies and victim service providers. The Contract Eligibility & Outreach Coordinator will also work to expand and conduct statewide outreach and training for various agencies and organizations regarding victim compensation. This may include cross-trainings with other Divisions within the Office or service providers. In general, the work of this position will include the provision of information, assistance, and advocacy to individuals applying for crime victim compensation and to others who seek assistance in matters related to victim rights and services, including maintaining current data on resources and referrals for assistance to crime victims and their families.

Position Type: Full-Time/Non-Exempt. (This is a full-time, temporary position with benefits.)

Salary: $55,00 to $56,000

Qualifications

Position Requirements: Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in social services, criminal justice, or other related field and at least four years’ experience in victim advocacy or victim services. Solid working knowledge of victim rights and services and the criminal justice system is required. Candidates must have excellent writing, communication, and public speaking skills and experience in creating and delivering PowerPoint presentations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
