The Experimental Gerontology Branch (EGS) within the Translational Research Branch (TGB) at the National Institute on Aging (NIA) in Baltimore has an opening for a post-doctoral position to work on target protein/s involved in Alzheimer’s disease and age-related cognitive impairment.
We are seeking a motivated post-doctoral candidate to investigate the predictive potential of blood biomarkers for the development of accurate early diagnostic test of Alzheimer’s disease and/or age-related dementia. The incumbent will also participate in basic and preclinical studies aimed at gaining insights on the mechanisms underlying age-related cognitive impairment, and at developing therapeutical interventions.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. with less than 5 years of postdoctoral experience and a research background in neurobiology and/or neuropathology. The successful candidate should possess the ability to work independently in a highly collaborative research environment, and be able to demonstrate initiative, creativity, technical independence. A commitment to scientific excellence and excellent communication skills are essential. Computational and bioinformatics skills (Matlab and Python) are a plus but not necessary.
