ODC Network is Hiring an Accounting/Finance Director Near Holland, MI

Title: Accounting/Finance Director

Reports To: President and COO

Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Overview: ODC Network is a nonprofit organization dedicated to outdoor education and conservation throughout West Michigan. The ODC is searching for the newly created role of Accounting/Finance Director to oversee all accounting and finance functions of the organization. The Accounting/Finance Director should have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles and processes, and a commitment to connecting people, land, and nature. The Accounting/Finance Director will be responsible for supervising the Business Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead an effective and comprehensive process for all accounting functions, reconciliations and month-end close.
  • Ensure accuracy and completion of all day-to-day accounting functions including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and banking/cash-flow forecasting
  • Manage financial reporting process including monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for both management and the Board of Directors. 
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems and processes, working with others to consistently improve accuracy and efficiency of transaction processing while improving internal controls.
  • Manage the accounting systems, practices, controls and procedures that conform to U.S. GAAP and non-profit best practices
  • Participate in budget development and management, collaborating with various departments to align financial strategies with ODC’s goals. 
  • Support financial objectives by providing financial analyses, recommendations, and advising staff.
  • Develop organizational strategies by contributing accounting and financial information, analysis, and recommendations for strategic thinking and direction, and establishing key metrics in line with organizational objectives.
  • Verify the integrity and accuracy of financial operations
  • Provide payroll support
  • Collaborate with the fund development team to timely and accurately record and recognize donations and pledges
  • Meet with department leaders as needed to support the annual operating plan
  • Support financial planning and reporting for programs and grants, including state and federal funding
  • Prepare and file tax filings including the organization’s 990
  • Manage the annual audit process, address audit findings, and implement risk management strategies to safeguard ODC’s assets.

Education/Experience:

  • BS/BA in accounting, CPA, or related master's degree
  • 5 years of total experience in accounting preferred
  • Nonprofit experience highly desirable
  • Experience in a supervisory capacity preferred

Equipment Operated: Must be proficient with software applications including Microsoft Office, Google Drive, QBO, among others, as well as the operation of general office equipment. Experience with Blackbaud Altru and/or Financial Edge NXT desirable.

Physical Demands:

This position may require the ability to work outside in various weather conditions. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds and walk, stand, and sit for extended periods.
