Oculus is Hiring a Display Manufacturing Design Engineering (MDE) Near Redmond, WA

The RL (Reality Lab) team at Meta is helping more people around the world come together and connect through world-class hardware and software. As part of the RL Devices team, we are builders who break down barriers to what is possible. Together we design and build manufacturing processes that transform technology into products.The Manufacturing Design Engineering (MDE) Team has the responsibility for evaluating technologies and identifying supply chain solutions that allow Tech Ops to deliver products to market at scale, owning NPI to mass production. Tech Ops is seeking a Manufacturing Design Engineering (MDE) to manage a display Module MDE Team. We are looking for an individual willing to work independently to accomplish bold things. Specific hardware development and operations knowledge are required. As Display MDE in the Devices organization, you will be responsible for both technically proficient work with the engineering design and Operations teams, for critical parts of display components and module process development and manufacturing. You will collaborate across multiple projects with display product designers to enable novel AR/VR experiences. You will be the interface between the Engineering, Supply Chain, and quality teams to implement and execute comprehensive process and technical solutions for our products.

Display Manufacturing Design Engineering (MDE) Responsibilities:
  • Drive manufacturing process innovation in Display solutions for VR products
  • Work with Hardware Engineering, Sourcing, Quality and Tech Ops Team to identify, audit and select the best suppliers’ partner (SPOR) to manufacture our products
  • Responsible for display back end module manufacturing, include bonding, lamination, dispensing, dicing, die cut, laser cutting, and activation of PSA or liquid adhesives
  • Evaluate process fixture DFM, process bring up and line qualifications
  • Setup CTQ list and evaluate equipment & process capability thoroughly and use statistic analysis to assess the data
  • Interface with Hardware Engineering, Module Quality Team, Sourcing, APAC Module MDE and suppliers to debug display issues, by doing failure analysis, identify root cause and provide solutions via process optimization and qualifications
  • Work with APAC MDE counterparts, Hardware engineering and vendors to develop MP intend equipment, process, design and materials
  • Work with the internal Quality Team to define quality characterization, inspection methodology, and qualification of components (LCD/OLED/4K module process qualifications, lens, module level sub-assy qualifications) before components ship to FATP (Final Assembly, Testing and packaging)
  • Optimize processes for cycle time reduction, automation, cost saving
  • Travel 20% to APAC vendors for support

Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS degree or higher in Display, Mechanical Engineering, chemical, Physics or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of experience and proven technical hands-on display manufacturing
  • Experience working with cross functional leaders, and with less supervision, driving hard decision making
  • Experience with high-volume consumer electronics manufacturing or related component manufacturing, partnering with world-wide supply chain partners and contract manufacturers

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with display panel front end process & validation
  • Experience with micro OLED or micro LED display panel
  • Experience using PowerPoint, Keynote & presentation skills
  • Experience using UGNX or other CAD programs
  • Experience with camera module manufacturing processes
