Oculofacial Surgery and Cosmetic Laser Institute provides aesthetic and reconstructive surgical and laser treatments. We are currently seeking an ophthalmology technician and surgical assistant to help in the back office. Qualified applicants should have independent, have critical thinking skills, provide excellent customer service, and be a team player and be comfortable EMR systems and computers/iPads.

Dermatology/ Ophthalmology/Surgical Experience is helpful not but not required.

Computer skills ie using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel (basic skills-spreadsheets), Google Drive are required.

Comfortable using social media platforms-Instagram, Facebook would be helpful but not required.

JOB DESCRIPTION: OPHTHALMOLOGY TECHNICIAN and SURGICAL ASSISTANT

*Typical Physical Demands: Desk work and standing for short periods of time in the operating room.
*Requires excellent communication skills and must be team player. Must be able to express a caring attitude while performing the tasks required with accuracy and efficiency.

Example of Duties: Ophthalmology Technician and Surgical Assistant

Full time Position 32-40 hours a week

Surgery Days 1-2 a month require staff to be present at 7 am. Normal clinic hours are 8:30 am to 5 pm.

Travel to South Tampa Clinic 2007 W. Swann Ave 1-2 times a month

• Check In/Check Out and Adding Charges and Collecting Payments as needed
• Completes a detailed patient history which includes past medical history (systemic and ocular), family medical history (systemic and ocular), medication history (systemic and ocular) and the chief complaint (the reason for the visit).
• Checks patient's corrected visual acuity for distance and near. Refractions are not performed in our clinic.

· Assists Back Office procedures to provide good patient/doctor workflow.

· Scribes in the room

· Uploads photos into the chart and external hard drive

· Assists in setting up surgical procedures and circulator during the surgical (eyelid cases) and laser cases.

· Preparing for surgical cases ie: sending prescriptions, filing out cardiac clearances, reviewing pre op orders.

· Assists as first assist in office surgical procedures (eyelid biopsies, eyelid surgeries)

· Cleaning and Autoclaving Instruments

· Helps with care, maintenance and stocking of assigned rooms.

· Attends required staff and educational meetings as requested.

· Maintains strictest confidentiality.

· Helps in all other areas in office when completion of above responsibilities permits to ensure smooth operation of the practice.

· Performs related work as required.

· Comfortable learning how to discuss aesthetic services with training. i.e. laser skin resurfacing, injectables, skin care and surgery.

· Opportunity to learn how to perform hydrafacials independently with appropriate training.

We currently use EMA Modernizing Medicine and Spruce Health as our Health Systems.
