As aSenior IT Security Engineer, you'll serve as the primary security engineer within a large desktop platform management team supporting a large federal health agency. The ideal candidate will have experience in all aspects of IT Security with a vast array of IT systems involving end-user as well as enterprise-level networks. As the team's security lead, you will provide the agency security team with all requested information related to security incidents; assist the Security Team as needed with remediation and investigation efforts; provide the Security Team with all requested information related to A&A, testing, and auditing activities; and work in cross functional teams to collaborate, innovate, and automate initiatives within security best practices.

Program Mission...

The program will provide desktop management and user support, to include computer systems, mobile devices, printers, and software, for several thousand staff across the Maryland Metro area and those working remotely.

Requirements...

* Windows certifications in one or more of the following: MCSE, MCP, VMWare

* Experience and proficiency in using, but not limited to, the following tools and software - Applications that require package building experience: Windows GPO, Windows WSUS, Microsoft Deployment Tool (MDT), LANRev, BigFix; PowerBroker, JAMF (for Mac); and Spacewalk (for Linux).

* Understanding of networking concepts such as IPv4, IPv6, and TCP/UDP.

* Understanding of information security concepts, such as Role Based Access Control, SSO, MFA, etc.

* Knowledge of network services such as NTP, SNMP, RADIUS, Syslog, etc.

* Knowledge of Active Directory/LDAP users and groups

* ITIL foundation certification preferred

* Demonstrated experience providing operational support for remediating hardware, software, and applications known and identified vulnerabilities, including remediation of hardware and software vulnerabilities under the direction of the agency IT Security Team

* Experience responding to alerts and incidents provided by internal and external information security support as directed by and in coordination with the agency Information System Security Officer (ISSO)

* Ability to support desktop maintenance activities, including necessary software updates, and security maintenance, including virus updates and patch management

* Ability to manage equipment and security processes that protect the integrity and confidentiality of client information by ensuring appropriate controls are in place

* Work independently with internal clients and management on information security issues and strategies to improve the security posture

* Experience and demonstrated ability to write clear and accurate technical and end user documentation

* Ability to weigh business needs against security concerns and articulate issues to customers and management

* Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills

* Ability to manage time and priorities with multiple tasks and projects and effectively track and report status on tasks and activities

* Demonstrated leadership qualities and skills, including independent decision-making abilities

* Ability to work with other engineers and departments as well as agency management in a positive, goal-directed manner

Years of Experience: 7 years in a Windows-heavy technical role; 5 years of shell scripting experience (see above for other requirements).

Education/Certifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a senior admin role; ITIL Foundations certification within three months of hire.

Locations: Rockville, MD/Maryland Metro Area.

Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
