Details: Excellent summer outdoor job opportunity with the Department of Public Works! Monday through Friday with no evenings, weekends, or Holidays. This position starts in May/June and works through August. Start and end date to coincide with a student's schedule if feasible/applicable. General Overview

Excellent summer job opportunity working lawn and grounds for the Department of Public Works. No evenings, weekends, and Holidays. This position is responsible for the daily maintenance, upkeep, and operations of City streets, grounds, open spaces, public areas, buildings and properties for the Department of Public Works. Work is performed under the general supervision of the DPW Supervisor.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, and talk or hear. The employee is required to walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and smell. Ability to perform work duties near and on City lakes operating various equipment.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Additional Information

Major Requirements:

  • Minimum age 18 years old.
  • Ability to frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds & occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.
  • Seasonal employees are required to wear ankle high safety toe boots.
  • Must be dependable and able to report to work on time.

Dates:

May/June through August. Start and end date to coincide with student school schedule if feasible/applicable.

DPW Hours:

7 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Monday-Friday (up to 40 hours per week)
