$75,000 to $90,000 annually

Job Description:

Position Overview:
The CHB Entry Writer Supervisor will require attention to detail while signing documents on behalf of clients as well as working with Customs for the coordination of deliveries. The ability to interact with officials at multiple agencies is a daily task. Minimum 5 years’ experience in Customs Brokerage handling the A through Z for all aspects of the clearance process. Candidate should have knowledge of FDA and USDA procedures with major U.S ports.
**Schedule for this position may require weekends on a departmental rotation basis. This position may require working a holiday schedule based on the needs of the operation and requirements of the account.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Classify goods according to Harmonized Tariff System (HTS) clarification and valuation of merchandise.

  • Prepare and process import documentation according to customs regulations.

  • Sign documents on behalf of clients using Power of Attorney (POA).

  • ISF filing.

  • Clear goods through customs and arrange for the delivery of goods to the designated destination as per the client agreement.

  • Monitor and trace the location of goods while actively communicating to ensure 100% client satisfaction and full visibility of shipment status.

  • Possess the ability to solve practical problems and address a variety of variables throughout the day.

  • Confer with officials in various agencies to facilitate the clearance of goods through customs and other government agencies with guidance from supervisor or manager.

  • Must have a proactive approach and remain up to date on all industry changes. This may require attending meetings, reading current literature, obtaining certifications, and conducting proactive research from other government agencies.

  • Utilize product database to document and request necessary documents.

  • Plan and monitor the department to accomplish department objectives.

  • Train new department employees.

  • Give direction and feedback regarding the department, while adhering to the policies and procedures of the department and company.

  • Enforce organization standards to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.

  • Work with the management team from across the company to improve processes.

Skills & Qualifications
  • 5 years’ experience with Customs House Brokerage preferred.

  • Broker License is required.

  • Strong knowledge of customs compliance regulation.

  • Accurate and concise data entry of client shipment detail and updates to shipment.

  • High attention to detail and sense of urgency.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and ability to multitask.

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office.


Work Environment:
  • Work is performed in an office environment where there is no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Work requires close attention to tasks for work to be accurately completed. Intermitted breaks during the workday do not compromise the work. Work requires constant respond to changing circumstances and using new information to adjust approach and to quickly respond to new needs.

  • Sensory Essential Functions include close work, visual examination of paperwork, computer monitor and keyboard use, conversations, telephone and background noise.

  • Physical Requirements with reasonable accommodations. Light work requiring exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally in carrying, lifting, pushing or pulling. Job consists of sitting, standing, walking, squatting and twisting.
