Ocean State Research Institute is Hiring a Research Scientist Near Providence, RI

Ocean State Research Institute at the VA Providence Healthcare System:

Providence is a unique research site in the heart of academic-rich southern New England. Ocean State Research Institute is the non-profit research organization at the VA Providence Healthcare System. The fundamental mission of Ocean State Research Institute is to promote the research and education programs at the VA Providence Healthcare System.

Summary:

The Research Biologist will lead the research project in the principal investigator’s lab. They will assume responsibility for all aspects of the assigned project, including organization and technical support.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Depth of knowledge of the technical methods and procedures, management practices, agency policies and programs and an extensive understanding and familiarity with the methods and practices of the science(s) or discipline(s).
  • Drives the research project in the laboratory. Knowledge of research objectives, planning research efforts and collection of organization of data.
  • Maintains equipment and controls supplies. Maintains laboratory records.
  • Designs and performs experiments in accordance with professional standards.
  • Apply extensive technical and administrative solutions and practices to a variety of problems.
  • Analyzes and presents data to the supervisor in a logical and systematic fashion.
  • Trains and supervises technicians, undergraduate students, and graduate students.
  • Prepares regulatory protocols and their continuing reviews.
  • Assists with preparation of grant proposals.
  • Drafts manuscripts for publication.

Education/Experience:

  • PhD or MD or Equivalent (relevant field of study is required)
  • 3-5 years post-graduate work experience preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
