About The Opportunity Join world-class experts in finding answers to our customers' most challenging questions as a Systems Technician. Ocean Optics is seeking a Systems Technician to work closely with a small engineering group in a fast-paced production environment to assist in the manufacture and test of precision optical metrology systems. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, organized, and electrically/mechanically inclined individual with a technical background that is eager to help streamline the production process of custom electro-optical instrumentation. The Systems Technician will be responsible for the build, test, and debug processes of production systems, and deliver critical testing support during the product development stage. In addition, the Engineering Technician will provide technical support to the engineering team and perform assembly tasks of electrical, mechanical, and optical components for production systems and calibration test fixtures.
About The Candidate - The primary responsibility for the role is performing daily production build, test, and debug activities
- Work closely with the Engineering Team during development of build and test methods for new products
- Manufacture, test and install custom wire harnesses / cable assemblies according to production specifications
- Interpret electrical schematics and production blueprints
- Follow work instructions, work independently, and perform technical tasks that may span wide range of disciplines (electrical, mechanical, optical, hardware assembly, software etc...)
- Provide equipment functionality and capability reports throughout the production and test stages
- Maintain tools and test equipment properly and ensure they are calibrated
- Perform critical quality control checks, and work to streamline analysis and reporting in an organized manner
- Work closely with the Engineering Team during development of build and test methods for new products
- Interpret electrical schematics and production blueprints
The ideal candidate will have a background which includes:
- Vocational or Associate's degree in related technical field or 2 years equivalent hands-on experience in manufacturing environment
- Strong computer skills and ability to operate electrical equipment
- Strong soldering skills and cable assembly experience
- Knowledge of electronics, mechanics, optical or imaging systems
- Ability to follow work instructions for manufacture and test with a high attention to detail, and ability to meticulously and precisely perform required tasks
- Superior diagnostic, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong analytical capability and experience, familiar with statistical analysis tools and experience post-processing data from measurements a plus
- Flexibility with other tasks
