OCAT LLC is Hiring a Director of Nursing Near Hilliard, OH

The Director of Nursing is a vital member of the Detox and Emergency Care component of the System of Care. The Director of Nursing is responsible for all Nursing related services for each patient. The Director of Nursing is involved in ongoing monitoring and evaluation to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the delivery of patient care. The Director of Nursing is also involved in preserving and improving the quality and efficiency of patient assessment and treatment care provided by EVOKE WELLNESS, LLC. The Director of Nursing for the development and evaluation of nursing unit personnel and maintains the optional medical aspects of the patient care unit. The Director of Nursing is also accountable for meeting the Medicare standards of Nursing.

Position Responsibilities

  • Participates in Interdisciplinary Treatment Plan meetings.
  • Stabilize patient according to unit protocol.
  • Complete nursing assessments.
  • Chart in the Patient Medical Record.
  • Monitor vital signs according to EVOKE WELLNESS, LLC’s policies and procedure, conduct patient checks and observe monitor or assign tech to assist with the above.
  • Supervise shift nurses and Detox tech staff.
  • Ensure that shifts are always covered.
  • Facilitate monthly staff trainings or as needed.
  • Attend and participate in daily Interdisciplinary Staff Meetings.
  • Ensuring that Tech completes all admission forms.
  • Communication with staff of all significant information, which includes but is not limited to patient’s mental status, vital signs, medications and any medication changes and lab results.
  • Reports to Clinical Director any administrative concerns.
  • Oversee Doctor’s Orders to pharmacy and assure that medication arrives.
  • Oversee all Medication Administration.
  • To be thoroughly familiar with personnel policies.
  • Interviewing, Hiring and Firing of Nursing and Detox staff
  • Review and complete Performance Evaluations for nursing and Detox staff.
  • Complies with all EVOKE WELLNESS, LLC’s Policies and Procedures in accordance with Joint Commission requirements.
  • Maintains required training and continuing education.
  • Maintains the Confidential Nature of all Patient and Facility Activities.
  • Serves on Committees as appointed to by CEO.
  • Provide Medication Education to Patient Population
  • Facilitates team interaction for discharge planning.
  • Collects and records data in a comprehensive, accurate and systemic manner.
  • Initiates and completes initial nursing assessment within 24 hours.
  • Evaluates the impact of therapeutic interventions upon the therapeutic milieu.
  • Knowledge of program policies and procedures.
  • Shares pertinent information with team as obtained from patients or family throughout program.
  • Collaborates with the medical staff to provide medical and nursing care.
  • Attends daily staff meeting.
  • Assists in formulating standards for patient policies and procedures.
  • Promotes good public relations between program and nursing department.
  • Provides individual and group therapy.
  • Documents patient progress/regress according to established policies and procedures.
  • Assesses patient’s need to see a psychiatrist and medical doctor weekly.
  • Performs clinical nursing activities in a safe, professional manner.
  • Maintains compliance with established nursing care standards.
  • Supervises and instructs patients in medication self-administration, (the preparation and giving of injections) as ordered by doctor.
  • Obtains lab specimens as ordered by doctor
  • Assists patient in obtaining medications from pharmacy.
  • Provides health education groups weekly.
  • Supports and assists with the orientation of new employees.
  • Communicates and deals effectively with patients, co-workers, medical staff and other healthcare providers.
  • Serves as resource in specialty to other team members.
  • Manages time effectively for proper balance between administrative unit responsibilities and other program requirements.
  • Assists in formulating standards of care for patients care.
  • Reviews, revises, and formulates policies and procedures specific to Program, with approval of the Clinical Director and Performance Improvement Coordinator.
  • Evaluates patient care daily by assessing patients and reviewing nursing documentation.
  • Supervises all clinical nursing activities, assuring comfort and safety of the patients.
  • Ensures continuity of care through the use of fore-sight in directing, controlling, planning and organizing patient care.
  • Serves as patient advocate, clinical resource person and role model for nursing personnel.
  • Communicates with family and health professionals concerning the care of patients.
  • Reports infection control incidents to Performance Improvement Team and Risk Management.
  • Implements and monitors Infection Control Team.
  • Protect the privacy of all patient information in accordance with EVOKE WELLNESS, LLC’s privacy policies, procedures and practices, as required by federal and state law, and in accordance with general principle of professionalism as a health care provider. Failure to comply with EVOKE WELLNESS, LLC’s policies and procedures on patient privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
  • May access protected health information (PHI) and other patent information only to the extent that is necessary to complete your job duties. The incumbent may only share such information with those who have a need to know specific patient information you have in your possession to complete their job responsibilities related to treatment, payment or other EVOKE WELLNESS, LLC operations.
  • Expected to report, without the threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding EVOKE WELLNESS, LLC’s policies and procedures on patient privacy and any observed practices in violation of the policy to their supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing, a M.S. degree in nursing preferred.
  • A minimum of two years experience as a Nursing Supervisor with a working knowledge of Substance Abuse and Dual Diagnosis Patients.
  • Detoxification experience preferred.
  • Experience delivering Health Education classes.
  • Current (five-years) of no felonies or substance abuse convictions.
  • Required to have a current TB immunization and/or verification incumbent is a “rector”.
  • Voluntary immunization for Hepatitis A&B will be offered/provided.
  • Must have two-years of continuous sobriety prior to hire, if a recovering alcoholic or drug addict and participate in a self-help program.
  • Current Licensed Registered or Licensed Practical Nurse in good standing.
  • Knowledge of addictions and mental health complications.
  • Knowledge and competency in problem solving, stress management, ethics and team building.
  • Knowledge of alcohol and other drugs that includes:
  • Alcohol and addictive drugs and their physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual impact on the individual.
  • Alcohol and addictive drugs and their impact on the family.
  • Ability to determine if a medical emergency exists and to take appropriate action, when necessary.
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures used in case of alcohol and/or drug overdose.
  • Knowledge of the stages of alcohol and other drug withdrawals and ability to take appropriate action at each stage.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and Municipal laws and/or regulations that regulate the treatment of alcoholism and drug addiction, including:
  • Confidentiality
  • Patient Rights
  • Professional Code of Ethics
  • Discrimination
  • Knowledge of airborne and blood borne pathogens (TB, HIV, AIDS, HB) and risk reduction methodologies and the use of universal precautions.
  • Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and assumption of responsibilities not delineated in the job description which are related to work as a member of an addiction treatment team.

Travel

  • Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
