About us :

Our teams are putting the worlds retailers online using the cloud, robotics, AI, and IoT. We provide services to partner clients globally via our innovative advanced robotics technology, known as the Ocado Smart Platform ("OSP"), this drives our highly automated, multi-million-pound Customer Fulfilment Centres (CFCs).

In our CFCs - together with the proprietary software applications - we operate a world-class online grocery business that automates the single pick of products, ready for your online delivery.

About the role :

As a Coordinator within Ocado you will be responsible for all on shift operational and front line auxiliary activities that support the successful delivery of KPIs for a specific Business Unit within the Logistics Operation.

Additionally, you will support the Area Managers to provide a safe and respectful work environment delivering outstanding service to internal and external customer.

Adhere to a flexible shift schedule, which involves working 4 on 4 off shifts, encompassing weekends, in a 24 / 7 operational setting.

The shifts are extended to 12 hours, with the shift times scheduled from 18 : 30 to 06 : 30.

You will be :

You will take charge of maintaining exceptional health and safety standards, fostering a positive on-site safety culture, and ensuring adherence to SSOWs / Risk Assessment materials, and the removal of potential hazards.

Your enthusiastic participation in safety initiatives will be instrumental in creating a secure work environment.

People

You will play a crucial role in championing our commitment to diversity and inclusion, empowering our team members and supporting their personal development.

Effective communication is key to delivering consistent and clear messages, and you'll ensure fair deployment and management of employees on shift, contributing to the achievement of vital people-related KPIs.

Additiou will coordinate tasks within your business unit to meet productivity, food safety, and quality targets, while identifying and resolving operational issues and recommending improvements.

Your commitment to operational processes and quality standards will enhance customer satisfaction and service levels, while your emphasis on housekeeping and hygiene standards will promote a culture of pride.

Furthermore, you will contribute to achieving our people-related KPIs, such as labor turnover and absence percentage, for your Business Unit.

Customer and Cost

You will lead your team to full compliance with operational processes and quality standards, ultimately enhancing the customer experience.

Maintaining high service levels and hygiene standards is imperative, and your role involves encouraging a culture of pride.

The successful coordination of your business unit's tasks is crucial in delivering productivity, food safety, and various other quality and performance targets.

Delivery

You'll be tasked with identifying and resolving operational issues and escalating them as needed. Additionally, you'll be proactive in reporting production issues and ensuring the swift resolution of critical incidents to minimise disruptions to productivity and customer service metrics within your business unit.

Your expertise will extend to making recommendations for future improvements and best practices while ensuring that all processes and supporting tasks are completed within agreed timescales, thus supporting the achievement of all relevant KPIs associated with the customer.

Roles & Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will encompass the successful delivery of services, promptly escalating any issues to CFC Area Managers, and maintaining clear communication and engagement with team members.

Proactive reporting of production issues and effective resolution to minimizs disruptions to productivity are essential.

Additionally, the role involves managing employee deployment fairly during shifts, maintaining compliance with HACCP standards, and coordinating with food technology on legislative, quality, or supplier matters.

Compliance is of utmost importance, and you will be responsible for executing your duties in accordance with the requisite training, Safe System of Work guidelines, and all legislative requirements.

Minimum :

Knowledge of best practice Health & Safety & Safe Systems of Working

Good numerical skills, able to read & understand numerical data. Ability to set and work within a target / KPI driven framework

Strong communication skills - verbal and written with the ability to interact positively at all levels

PC literate (Excel, Google Operating Systems), Microsoft user basic level

Ability to recognise poor operating techniques and make effective suggestions for improvement

Strong communication skills (both over the phone and face-to-face)

Above average driving ability

Ability to respond quickly to changing customer and business needs

Able to work under pressure

Preferred (in addition to minimum)

Food Safety Standards - Knowledge of key elements of food safety standards

Experience of working in a 24 / 7 operation

Warehouse Management Systems - Working knowledge of key elements / core operation reporting tools

Team Management Skills - Some previous people management experience (e.g. supervisory, secondments / step-up)

Mechanical Handling Equipment - Current qualifications / previous experience
