Title: Massage Therapist
Department: Revive at The Group Medical Spa
Reports To: Medical Spa Administrator
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Job Overview: The Massage Therapist will be responsible for treating clients through soft tissue manipulation while maintaining a safe and relaxing experience. The therapist should be good at perceiving client wishes and needs through spoken language, body language and other cues and modifying their treatments accordingly.
Essential Duties: Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required.
  • Guide clients through service offerings and determine which massages would benefit them most
  • Take a detailed client history and note any health conditions
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical record documentation of consultation and treatment
  • Evaluate clients to determine painful or stressed areas of the body
  • Advise clients on stretching, strengthening or relaxation methods
  • Suggest future massage appointments and regime to clients
  • Listen to clients during appointments and adjust technique as they desire
  • Take initiative to present products and services in a professional and proficient manner through product and treatment knowledge.
  • Understand the services of Revive – the advantages and benefits.
  • Remain current and knowledgeable on portals and electronic charting system that Revive uses to assist in client experience.
  • Personally work with clients to deliver and develop customer loyalty.
  • Participate in execution of various med spa events.
  • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Attend required meetings and training programs.
  • Maintain client confidentiality.
  • Participate in collaboration with other team members to promote continuity of care including cross referring to other spa providers.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and work toward continuous quality improvement.
  • Uphold, support, and promote all company policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in all Social Media, marketing, and brand management of Revive to promote services, treatments, products, and other providers.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills and ability required.
Education/Experience:
  • Completed 500 hours of massage therapy courses
  • Must hold current massage therapy certification
  • Experience working in a spa preferred
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Time management abilities
  • Demonstrated sales and customer service skills
Language Skills:
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Reasoning Ability:
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Current Iowa Board of Massage Therapy Licensure
  • Current National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork Certification
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Driver’s license and acceptable driving record
