Job Description – Logistics Specialist - Structures

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide “Structures” subject matter expertise as an Equipment/Logistical Specialist in modernization, acquisition, management and sustainability of new and existing Basic Expeditionary Airfield Resources (BEAR) contingency basing assets.
  • Perform technical assessments for form, fit, and function suitability, complexity, compatibility, and operational requirements on Structural type BEAR assets such as soft and hard wall large, medium and small shelters associated with BEAR.
  • Perform technical and functional review of documents used for asset design, manufacture, maintenance, modification, and operational instructions which include engineering drawings, technical orders, commercial manuals, operating instructions, and material listings.
  • Provide technical analysis of life cycle logistic support requirements of BEAR Base systems proposed for modernization, replacement, upgrade, or modification.
  • Understand, review and develop logistic support data such as Equipment Mission Capability (MISCAP) statements, Unit Type Code (UTC), Logistics Detail (LOGDET), CRUMS, R-34’s, R-14’s, BEAR Packaging Plans/Inventory Listings, Function Check Listings and Critical Item Listings.
  • Provide technical assistance and submit reports as required to verify, resolve, and document identified equipment material deficiencies.
  • Perform data gathering, develop presentations, staff evaluations reports, and technical writing to support effective communication.
  • Prepare meetings and presentations to include data gathering, evaluation and the preparation of background papers, staff studies, and/or presentation materials intended to recommend a course of action, strategy, or report status/progress.

Qualifications:

  • Must have high-school diploma or above with technical training aligned with position requirements.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience and job knowledge is required with BEAR Base Systems and 15 years of DoD experience.
  • Must possess an extensive and practical knowledge of BEAR Base equipment/system characteristics and properties in order to provide specialized information about equipment together with related advice to those who design, test, produce, procure, supply, operate, repair or dispose of equipment. 
  • Must possess knowledge of a wide range of maintenance concepts, principles, and practices of specific systems and skills in applying this knowledge to difficult and complex assignments.
  • Must have skills in identifying and analyzing complex technical and requirement problems and developing innovative solutions.
  • Must be able to plan, organize, and reprioritize work when facing changing deadlines and must be able to effectively write and author reports based on assessments and evaluations.
  • Must be capable of providing technical support and administrative assistance in the review and assessment of BEAR Base technical support requirements included in the operation and support plans, programming plans, acquisition plans, test and evaluation plans and design document/data, provisioning documents, etc.
  • Must be knowledgeable in writing background papers, staff summaries, presentation materials, etc. related to technical design, and operation.

Additional information:

  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a DoD security clearance.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite of Tools, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Must Possess excellent communications skills
  • Candidate must be able to pass security background check. 
  • Position is at Holloman AFB, New Mexico
