Oakwood Elementary School seeks to fill a part-time Spanish language teaching position for grades K-2. The Spanish teacher works with elementary school students to develop the necessary skills for language acquisition and provides rich instructional experiences as a foundation for introducing the Spanish language and an appreciation for the culture of Spanish-speaking countries. 
RESPONSIBILITIES

• Employs effective, developmentally appropriate teaching strategies for young second-language learners, including Total Physical Response (TPR), games, songs, and literature
• Lessons include the use of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic modalities
• Exposes students to real-world language use through role-playing and the use of multimedia
• Collaborates with the classroom teacher to integrate Spanish language learning with existing curriculum, where possible
• Engages and encourages students in the active process of learning
• Provides ongoing student feedback, both informal and formal, including written narrative evaluations
• Meets with students and families as needed
• Actively engages in the life of the school
• Responds to evaluations from supervisors and students professionally and constructively
• Integrates culturally responsive teaching practices into the classroom and is committed to professional growth on equity and inclusion.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

• B.A in Spanish, or in the teaching of Spanish, with native or near-native proficiency (Master’s Degree preferred)
• Minimum of 3 years experience teaching in an elementary school setting preferred
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with all constituents.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Possess proficient technology skills
• Working knowledge of the ACTFL proficiency standards and currently teaching the three modes of communication
• Committed to academic excellence, interdisciplinary learning, exceptional teaching
• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development in both subject matter and methodology

 Expected annual compensation range, based on 40% FTE: $27,558 - $32,377
