Qualifications:

• Certifications for Food Handler, CPR/First Aid, and Medication Administration;
• Experience with nutritional management plans and physical/behavioral management;
• Must have related education or experience, working with persons with intellectual, physical, mental and developmental disabilities, preferably in a residential setting;
• High School diploma or equivalent is required
• A valid Virginia Driver’s License and a current DMV record is a must; and
• Must submit to and pass a drug screening, a criminal background investigation, and a registry check.

Continued employment is based on the satisfactory results of both a criminal background investigation and a registry check by the Department of Social Services.

Job Duties

• Supports and instructs individuals in a range of daily living skills, including: self-help, independent living and social development and collect data;
• Implements daily training programs, care plans, behavior support plans, and meal preparation;
• Engage, assist and monitor participation in a variety of leisure, recreational and social activities of choice in the home and community;
• Transport to community outings and medical appointments, monitors the resident health and safety and works as a team with the Nurses to ensure quality care;
• Correctly follow instructions and accurately observe and report observations both verbally and in writing;
• Positions will work with rotating weekends and holidays, but applicant will need to be flexible to cover other shifts if necessary;
• Administer medication; and
• Perform other duties as required by the administrative staff.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Must be able to respond to crisis and clinical emergencies, exercise sound judgment, learn and acquire skills of basic care and treatment plans, and read, understand and carry out individualized service plans and programs;
• Ability to recognize and appropriately react to behavioral, medical and other emergencies;
• Individuals must be able to meet the physical demands of the position, which includes, standing, bending, walking, pushing/pulling, and lifting up to 50lbs.;
• Excellent documentation, verbal, and communication skills; and
• Knowledge of person centered approach techniques.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
