Summary of Duties

Administer the operation of the activity department in accordance with regulatory guidelines and our established policies and procedures and assure that an on-going program of activities is designed to meet the level of interests and abilities of each resident.

Essential Job Functions

1. Assist the Director of Guest Services in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the activity programs of the Community.
2. Interview residents or their family members to determine which activities would be appropriate.
3. Develop and maintain an activity schedule.
4. Arrange transportation for field trips and serve as driver of bus or van when necessary.
5. Schedule activities for residents.
6. Provide adaptive materials to meet the leisure needs of residents.
7. Review and revise activities as necessary based on the residents’ interests.
8. Coordinate activities with other departments as necessary.
9. Place orders for equipment and supplies as necessary or as may be required.
10. Check supply rooms to assure that needed activity supplies are on hand to conduct scheduled activities.
11. Develop and grow the volunteer program for the facility.
12. Participate in Community planning related to the interests of the facility and the services and needs of the residents and their families.
13. Assist the Director of Marketing/Director of Admissions by answering general questions for potential residents and their families about the Community and its services.
14. Collect and forward contact information for prospective residents and their families to the Director of Marketing/Director of Admissions.
15. Provide tours of the Community with prospective residents and their families as required.
16. Perform other duties and assume additional responsibilities as deemed necessary and appropriate including special projects.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in recreational and activities programs for senior adults required.

Physical Requirements for Essential Job Functions

1. Must be able to walk, sit, and stand intermittently throughout the workday.
2. Must be able to reach, bend, and/or stoop intermittently throughout the work day.
3. Must be able to work with hands and fingers throughout the workday.
4. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
5. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
