What You'll Do:
The Milieu Specialist will:
Report to the Crisis Services- Team Leader.
Work closely with the unit staff in ensuring smooth and safe functioning of the Crisis Center during evenings, nights, and weekend hours at the South Bend Crisis Center.
Ensure a safe environment and coordination of emergency and escalation procedures.
The Milieu Specialist is responsible for 3 primary functions:
Facilitate flow of the Crisis Center from check in, triage, living room, and discharge.
Assist with pt. management and staff support
Monitor general milieu and assist with de-escalation.
Additional duties:
Assist with the overall safety and security during weekday evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
Maintain a safe environment for staff and clients and coordinate emergency procedures, if/when needed.
Provide support, assistance and monitoring to crisis services staff
Respond to conflict situations using verbal and physical techniques as needed.
Maintain paper and electronic documentation.
Requirements:
High school diploma required. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services field preferred.
Previous experience in mental health setting highly preferred.
