SALARY GRADE: K121 3
BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of a Principal or assigned supervisor, serve as a liaison between parents, students and the community; provide information regarding school or District programs, procedures, activities, rules and regulations; monitor attendance and assist with various attendance procedures.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: (Incumbents may perform any combination of the essential functions shown below. This position description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, knowledge, or abilities associated with this classification, but is intended to accurately reflect the principal job elements).
E = Essential Functions
  • Serve as a liaison between the school and school community to assist in fostering a climate of understanding and cooperation; communicate with school Principals to meet programmatic needs and monitor attendance of school programs. E
  • Meet with students and parents regarding student attendance problems; inform, advise or direct students and parents on solving attendance related problems; refer families and students to community resources and school administrators when necessary; contact parents regarding illnesses or absences as needed. E
  • Travel to various locations to visit homes to discuss and interpret educational programs of the school; transport sick children home as needed; communicate with parents regarding various pupil problems, attendance and parental responsibilities in assisting children to obtain success in school; encourage parents to attend and participate in school and parent activities. E
  • Plan and assist in parent orientation and parent education activities related to specific consolidated programs; conduct parent workshops as assigned. E
  • Interpret materials and school and District policies, programs and activities for parents, school personnel, students and others as requested. E
  • Operate various standard office equipment as assigned. E
  • Assist with other activities including health, attendance, yard duty and clerical activities as needed. E
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
TRAINING, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education, training and/or experience equivalent to: graduation from high school and one year experience in community service programs or related areas.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Overall scores on Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Tests of 40%.
Personal appearance, grooming, and language patterns, which will provide a satisfactory example to pupils.
Valid California Driver's License.
Employment eligibility that may include fingerprints, Turberculosis and/or other employment clearance.

Procedures, methods, techniques and strategies utilized in dealing with sensitive school and community problems, issues and concerns

Provide information regarding school or District programs, procedures, activities, rules and regulations
Monitor attendance and assist with various attendance procedures

WORKING CONDITIONS: ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor environment; driving a vehicle to conduct work.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Sitting or standing for extended periods of time; seeing to read a variety of materials; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate various office equipment.
