Overview

The position is primarily responsible for all day-to-day accounting functions including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and financial statement preparation. Further duties include Human Resources coordination, assisting the Director of Finance with budgeting and financial reporting, and assisting with customer service initiatives on event days.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and assist in all general accounting functions including: General Ledger, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
  • Perform GL account reconciliations monthly
  • Perform Bank account reconciliations monthly
  • Prepare monthly audit work papers
  • Compile monthly financial statements for review by Director of Finance
  • Coordinate with Box Office, Ice Arena and Concessions on daily reports and deposits
  • Reconcile the daily credit card sales from the ticketing system
  • Verify the weekly statements from the ticketing company and approve payment of the invoice
  • Provide support for the Human Resources function through maintaining records and files administering employee benefits
  • Review and approve bi-weekly payroll for all salaried and hourly employees.
  • Hire, train, direct and supervise the Administrative Assistant.
  • Implement accounting controls and procedures.
  • Prepare a variety of financial spreadsheets, reports, and analyses for Director of Finance and General Manager.
  • Apply Federal, State, and local laws and regulations pertaining to accounting and auditing work.
  • Assist with customer service initiatives on event days.
  • Assist in providing general office and clerical support.

Qualifications

  • Two years of professional accounting experience preferably including some supervisory experience.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, business administration or a closely related field.
  • High level of proficiency with computers, Microsoft applications, and accounting/payroll systems.
  • Experience with Excel, Sage or other accounting program required. Extensive experience preparing spreadsheets and reports.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays in addition to traditional business hours, is required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work well with all levels of management.
  • Previous customer service experience a must.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid drivers’ license.

Physical Demands:

While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee constantly operates a computer and other office devices such as telephones, copy machines, etc.; occasionally moves about inside the office to access storage areas, cabinets, and office machinery; constantly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information; and constantly moves about the arena and event sites before, during and after events to service clients and supervise staff.
