Oak View Group is Hiring a Director of Programming| Community Arena Management, LTD Near San Antonio, TX

Overview

The Director of Programming is a member of the leadership team for Oak View Group, located on site at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas and report directly to the Vice President and General manager. The position will collaborate with Frost Bank Center’s Senior Director of Programming on facility usage requests, maintaining and distributing the booking calendar to both internal and external clients as needed. The Director of Programming shall be responsible for integrating OVG booking practices and new business opportunities into Frost Bank Center. The Director of Programming shall act as an onsite contact for all booking systems, policies and general communication with all parties involved are accurate, clear, and consistent.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and leadership to the Programming department who are responsible for planning, coordinating, and scheduling of all non-rodeo, non-San Antonio Spurs, ticketed events held at Frost Bank Center and Freeman Coliseum
  • Coordinate with OVG corporate to stay current on all content initiatives, booking intel and leads
  • Assist with event and revenue strategies
  • Produce event pro formas and assist in new event creation
  • Assist with development plans for backstage, tour, and artist hospitality
  • Coordinate with Senior Director of Programming at the venue on deal negotiation proposals to the Vice President and General Manager
  • Strategize with OVG and Senior Director of Programming on programming premier, top selling and grossing events
  • Review industry trends and make recommendations on new business opportunities that support departmental strategic plans
  • Work with OVG VP of Marketing and Frost Bank Center Marketing staff on industry branding initiatives, trade publication ads and gifting
  • Communicates and distributes the contract details for upcoming events to the appropriate departments through all relevant means, including leading weekly booking meetings
  • Primary OVG contact with Frost Bank Center,
  • Key link to OVG Corporate Booking department
  • Ensures that all booking systems, policies, and general communication with all parties involved are accurate, clear and consistent
  • Jointly represent booking department at relevant staff meetings, alongside the Senior Director of Programming
  • Support Event Settlement Meetings as requested, ensuring proper communication of contractual elements with all internal stakeholders
  • Attend industry events including but not limited to Arena Alliance Summit, VenuesNow, IEBA, Pollstar and industry mixers
  • Coordinate travel and industry meeting strategies with Senior Director of Programming
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 7 years experience booking arena, stadium or theaters content with direct function in a fast-paced environment in sports & entertainment industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Hospitality or Facilities Management or other related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • Previous experience working with a professional sports team or sports tenant, concerts, or trade/consumer shows
  • Prior responsibility and experience for calendar and scheduling for professional sports team and use of booking software
  • Proven relationship and success working with Live Nation, AEG and others
  • Experience with creating successful initiatives that focus on the fan and tour experience
  • Possess strong organizational and communication skills, a strategic thinker and planner with a proven track record of success
  • Proven record of developing and maintaining strong partnerships and collaborative spirit with peers in all lines of the business
  • A strong record of personal and team achievement over his / hir career with substantial personal contributions to the positive evolution of the business through innovative thinking and an ability to make a successful impact
  • Solid experience in leading, motivating and collaborating with employees
  • Superior listening skills with a level of intellectual ability / agility
  • A high degree of personal integrity and consistently put the interests of the organization ahead of his/her own

Preferred Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience with large crowd management in a stadium or concert setting of a similar size (15,000 seats) is preferred
  • In addition to a proven relationship and success working with Live nation, the ideal candidate would have strong existing industry relationship with other national tour promoters (including but not limited to AEG, MTG, Feld, WWE, Cirque Du Soleil, etc..) and major agencies

Working Conditions

  • Intermittent travel (<20% travel): may be required to travel. Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required
  • Frequent bending, lifting 15 – 20 pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building
