Oak Park Park District is Hiring a Birthday Party Host - Conservatory Near Oak Park, IL

Job Purpose

The Birthday Party Host responsibilities are to facilitate, supervise and organize Conservatory birthday party attendees in fun and safe manner.

Essential Functions

  • Facilitates and supervises children's birthday parties at the Oak Park Conservatory, to ensure guestare actively engaged, safe, and having fun.
  • Redirect participant behavior when necessary, enforce park district rules, and make sound decisions in order to secure the safety and well-being of all participants, staff, facilities, and equipment..
  • Maintains inventory, and orgranizationof party supplies and submit needs to supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the setup and cleanup for birthday party event.
  • Greet host and guests, provides excellent customer service.
  • Assist party participants in a fun and safe manner throughout the party
  • Display an attitude of fun and enthusiasm throughout the event.

Additional Functions

  • Assist in the development of activities and crafts during the birthday party.
  • Maintains a complete understanding of Park District emergency action plan
  • Maintains knowledge of and follows all Federal, State, Local and Park District safety regulations
  • Communicates any program deviations to immediate supervisor.
  • Must be available weekend days as scheduled.
  • Attends staff meetings asrequested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age or have a work permit if 15 years of age
  • Certification in advanced Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) within 1 month of employment

Work Environment, Physical Demands and Considerations

  • Frequently standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, running, and walking
  • Strength Work requires the ability to move and lift medium to heavy weight (up to 50 lbs.)
  • Other requirements may include talking, hearing, and seeing to perform the following necessary duties: Facilitating programs and supervising guests, operating office equipment including but not limited to computers, printers, copiers, fax machines and telephones
  • Activities are performed both indoors and outdoors. May be subjected to inclement weather but not limited to.
  • Ability to present ideas and recommendations in a concise verbal and written manner
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and/or written instructions efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to use independent judgment, initiative and respond to unexpected or unplanned events or demands

Customers:

Internal: Other Park District staff and Board members

External: Patrons of Park District of Oak Park, partner organizations, residents of Oak Park

Hours

The position may average between 4 and 10 hours per week. The position requires working select times on Saturdays and Sundays.
