Oak Leaf Cooperative Schools, a 501c3 nonprofit network of forest school programs run by parents and educators, is looking for a teacher to facilitate an all-outdoor homeschool hybrid program for 4 hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays mornings during the 2024-2025 school year (August 6th - May 28th.) Themes for the program will include character education, literacy, and environmental stewardship. The teacher will design the classes in collaboration with the parent group that is spearheading the program. The program will meet entirely outdoors in a public nature area in all seasons, with access to indoor space in case of severe weather. Teachers and parents have autonomy over the program, with Oak Leaf providing administrative support. Curriculum resources will be available. This is a contractor position.
The parent group is looking for an educator with the following qualifications:
-Experience teaching/ working with children ages 5-8 in a formal or informal educational setting.
-Interested in collaborating with parents and taking initiative to develop new programs from the ground up.
-A passion for outdoor education/ comfortable spending time in nature for long periods of time in various weather conditions.
-Well-versed in a multidisciplinary, hands-on approach to education.
