Oak Canyon manufacturing inc is Hiring a Purchasing Manager Near Phoenix, AZ

Position Summary:
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for complete oversight and management of all aspects of purchasing for assigned locations to improve product costs while maximizing margins optimize and maintain strong supplier relationships. He or she will work with the management to identify and execute on cost savings opportunities, including supplier selections, negotiating into stock costs, customer specific costs and supplier programs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to locate the most advantageous sources of supply, regarding price, availability, quality, etc., and complete purchases, rentals, etc. to obtain these products and services to support the daily requirements.
  • Maintain proper stock levels to avoid production shortages.
  • Supervises warehouse product rotation and organization.
  • Take ownership of replacement costs accuracy to ensure the various systems are utilizing negotiated levels to maximize profitability
  • Review requisitions for authorization, completeness and accuracy.
  • Understanding of Federal Tariff and Taxes associated with importation of product.
  • Responsible for Customs and Border Security clearance reporting.
  • Supervise placement of purchase orders with suppliers to include processing of data into the computerized purchasing system to support accounting requirements.
  • Executes, implements, and administers contracts.
  • Maintain all necessary records of purchases, quotations, prices, and deliveries.
  • Develop forecasts and procurement strategies.
  • Develops and controls working relationships with suppliers and with other departments within the organization.
  • Analyzes current and potential suppliers. Maintains supplier list. Locates new sources of supply as necessary, keeps abreast of changing trends in prices or availability of materials and services to ensure a continued flow of materials to meet organization needs.
  • Maintains and update policies and procedures for the purchasing function.
  • Coordinate necessary projects as directed by management to improve the overall efficiency of the purchasing function.
  • Supervise and assist receiving data entry to support Accounting.
  • Execute special projects as needed.
  • Other tasks or duties as assigned by the Company

Skills & Experience:

  • Furniture industry experience preferred
  • Proven business, leadership and performance management skills
  • Strong experience executing cost-effective corporate contracts and negotiation
  • Strategic and tactical planning skills
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Good customer service skills
  • Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Self-starter capable of working independently
  • Good mathematical and analytical abilities
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Ability to be flexible and create innovative solutions
  • Ability to balance multiple needs in approaching daily challenges
  • Must have knowledge of lumber grading.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Ability to be flexible and multi-task

Education:

  • BS/BA degree in Supply Chain Management or related fields preferred and/or 5 years’ experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
